Testimonials from our readers...

This is an amazing reconstruction of a very difficult childhood.

I felt pure joy when you reunited with your mother. I shared your defiance against your father. You allowed me to live your story, rather than just read it.

What a fascinating, heartbreaking and harrowing look inside the growing-up experiences of a child who suffers so much neglect and abuse.

I cried with you, especially during your first experience at the home. I felt triumph and a sense of value, when you worked your way to New York…

You took me on such a journey. I felt your innocence and with every heartbreak try to reach out… I lost that innocence with you.

The Kid With Broken Glasses is a reminder for people of conscience to look out for the ‘silent ones’!

Blanche’s review says…

“…I read your book and WOW! I would NEVER have known all that you had to go through just looking at you. You’re such a loving a warm person and had a successful life despite all that you had to endure. So I can imagine if you had gotten all the support while growing up, sky would have been the limit to explore your curious mind”

It really helped me understand how an innocent child, left to fend for himself without love, can end up straying into destructive habits of mind and body.

An amazing reconstruction of a very difficult childhood, effectively told from a growing child’s point of view.

About the Author

A world traveller, amateur photographer and author, Walter Manuel comes from a diverse background of experiences that have led him to write this book.

Always wanting to write about his traumatic childhood and to be able to give back to the silent ones, Walter decided to write his debut novel as a memoir, a book about feelings. A fascinating, heartbreaking and harrowing book written in the first person about the growing-up experiences of a child who suffers much neglect and abuse.

As he was writing his memoir, the two homes that are in the book burned to the ground erasing part of Walter’s physical past.
